Request for assignment for a serial already published
Before requesting the code check that your editorial product falls within the types covered by the ISSN: http://bice.cnr.it/centro-issn/informazioni-issn.
In case of differences between the bibliographic data in the application form and those in the editorial documentation shall be authentic bibliographic data present on the editorial documentation .
For a serial published on different physical supports (eg: paper, DVD, online) must be assigned different ISSN and be submitted separate requests for each physical support of publication.
- ISSN request form for a ceased serial already published - WARNING: the online form does not introduce accented letters or special characters
- For serials published on a physical static support - paper, magnetic, electronic - the application form must be accompanied by: copy of the cover, colophon (as well as the title and half-title if present), both the first and last number published. In the event that of a serial has already been published only the number 0 (or year 0 , or similar numbers) the ISSN request must be sent by printed mail , enclosing a copy of the published issue.
- For serials online published in the application form must be indicated the URL of publication, and not be presented attachments. The ISSN Centre will review the serial directly to the the URL indicated by the applicant; any login and / or password - even on temporary duration - to access the full text of the serial must be indicated in the application form below to the the URL, to enable the ISSN Centre to view the actual publication. The Centre is not responsible of possible registration procedures that the publisher or the provider may be necessary for public access to the serial or the use of software, appliances or functional tools to its consultation.
The ISSN code can identify serial publications online only when they present all of the following bibliographic / editorial characteristics:
- actual publication of the serial (must be and available - to the URL indicated by the applicant - at least the first number / the first issue).
o Furthermore, in case the serial is a periodical with study or scientific purposes:
o we consider published an issue - formally identified and quotable thanks to its numbering and dating - that contains within it no less than five articles, excluding any editorial characteristics, premises, prefaces, indexes, abstracts, posters, work plan , bibliography, events , etc .;
o we do not consider as the first number / first issue actually published any test issues (eg: number zero, zero year number one; one number zero; numbers in outline / test / draft; sample issues; dossiers of monographic nature - even containing conference acts, seminars, etc. - whose numbers are not contained in the numerical sequence of the general issues of the periodical, etc.).
- Intellectual content editorially treated (written text) (excluding, for example, the websites containing links or just collections of texts taken from other websites without any editorial review);
- bibliographic data identifiers that must be traceable on the publication: identificative title of the serial or collection, continuous in all issues; place of publication (ie: office publisher or intellectual responsible ); name of publisher or intellectual responsible ; date of publication; periodicity or frequency of updating, or indication of numbers in sequence, or dating progressive of single issue.
Do not fall within the scope of ISSN the websites of nature explicitly commercial or advertising, institutional websites / organization / community, blogs or websites purely personal, websites with ephemeral purposes (whose completion time is implicit in their design).
WARNINGS USE FOR REQUESTS SENDING
As an alternative to the electronic system or in case of its malfunctioning [for example, in the case where to the applicant is not received within 24 hours from the module an automatic email of first confirmation], online forms filled in each part, dated and signed, and all editorial documentation indicated, can be sent by mail, or by fax, to the address: National Research Council - Italian ISSN Centre, Piazzale Aldo Moro 7-00185 Rome. The communication to the applicant of the ISSN code assigned shall be effected with e-mail sent by the ISSN Centre within seven working days of receipt of the request, correct and complete in all its parts.
