The Central Library established in 1991 the Depository Library of the European Commission that in 2006, following a new agreement concluded with the Directorate General for Information, Communication and Culture of the European Commission has become European Documentation Centre (EDC). The main purpose of the Centre is to promote and support teaching and research on European integration, and dissemination to users, university and not, for information and documentation on the European Union and its policies.
The EDC is part of a wider European information network that includes approximately 600 centres worldwide, including 366 in Europe and 50 in Italy. In this context, it actively participates in the activities and projects promoted by the Italian Network of European Documentation Centres.
