Grey Literature

Repertory

The term Grey Literature is used to refer to unconventional documents (York, 1978) which are usually not available through traditional channels.
The CNR Central Library Database contains essentially technical, scientific or business material, such as: Reports (Preprints, Technical reports, Official documents, Progress reports, Market research reports or Reports issued by committees, commissions, study and working groups); University final-year and Postgraduate dissertations; Reports and Communications of conferences, seminars, round table meetings, etc.; Essays pending approval by academic journals; Statistics and Bibliographies.
Users can enter the name of the publication they are looking for in the database query box and retrieve it directly from the website of the issuing body. For unavailable documents, users have to contact the body mentioned in the query box.
The Library has been collaborating  to the EAGLE-SIGLE European Project on Grey Literature (System for Information on Grey Literature in Europe) since its beginning, in 1985, and continues  to do it with the partnership  in  the European Open repository Network OpenGREY provided by INIST CNRS.. The OpenGrey Repository was launched in mid-2011. OpenGrey succeeds OpenSIGLE, which was an initiative by Inist-CNRS to transfer the contents of a commercial database into an open access environment - including the results of 25 years of collecting and referencing grey literature by European partners. Since 2008, GreyNet's conference preprints complement the offer on grey literature in OpenGrey by providing full-text access to research output in this field of information science. OpenGrey not only signifies a change in platform but also provides improved features for users redesigned to meet the needs of a Google generation. Moreover, OpenGrey closes the gap caused by the termination of SIGLE database reopening  the way for a new record entry with links to full text, research data, as well as post-publication data
